Carrera Go Slot Cars Features
The Carerra Go Slot Cars is a starter system for children aged over 6 years. It is made in 1:43 scale which helps to keep the cost down, takes up less space to set up and action features like loop the loop are possible.
The sets are 2 lanes or slots wide and you can race 2 cars at the same time.
As you can see from the range table above the length of track you can get in a relative small area is remarkable along with action features like crossovers, flyovers, loop the loops, hairpin turns etc.
All the sets include turbo speed controllers. These hand controls have a turbo boost button which when pushed injects a speed boost to the slot cars. This is used for speeding down the straights and through obstacles like the loop the loop. If used on the curves it will result on the cars crashing off and flying off.

There is wide range of slot cars available that fit the Carrera Go tracks. The cars all have double contact bushes for the best contact with the track to keep the cars powered up.
All the cars are tampo printed for the best finish possible. They are made from durable materials to take the full on racing action and the misses and crashes that inevitable occur when racing at speed.
There are a number of interesting fun characters and racing themes included in the slot car range. These can be raced on existing Carrera Go slot car sets to give more variety to the racing action.

Carrera Go Track And Accessories
The track uses an easy to put together bolt system that holds the track together to give a smooth stable ride to the slot cars. The 1:43 scale results in the track being about 4.5 inches wide. The curves and corners come with attractive red and white painted shoulders like real race courses around the world. The height supports included for banked corners and bridges are adjustable to get the optimal height for racing.
The track parts able to be bought separately from the sets are: curves, extension sets, lap counter and controllers.
There are a number of different accessories that are able to be bought that will add more racing fun to the set. These include transformers, speed controls, flags, fences and guard rails.
Carrera Go Customer Reviews
There are a number of customer reviews on the internet. In summary they are mixed. The majority of the negative reviews focus on the fact that the cars can be difficult to control and come off the track. As mentioned in the cons section this is to be expected and with a little perseverance this can be mastered. This is supported by the positive reviews with a number mentioning how quickly their children mastered this.
A number of reviews say that it is great fun and is something that the whole family can participate and enjoy whether boy or girl, son or daughter, parent or grandparent.
Pros & Cons
Pros: The big plus is that these Carrera Go slot cars are an affordable beginner set into the thrilling world of slot car racing. There are many different fun characters and themes like Disney, Police Chase, Dune Buggy etc that can be raced along with more traditional racing themes like Formula 1, NASCAR and Ferrari.
It is possible to build the sets up as interest grows to add variety to racing layouts or you can combine more than one set together to make bigger racing circuits.
The 1:43 scale also means you can get quite a lot of action in a small space which can be important as most of us don’t have the room we might like. The sets from reviews are straightforward to put together and take down after the initial set up.
Cons: These are slot car sets. And as with all slot car sets the cars will come off when driven too fast around corners. This is the same with all slot car sets. Anyone new to slot cars should be aware of this and it is for this reason I mention it under the cons. When starting out the crashes can be frustrating but it something most people master but it is not for everyone. To me it is what makes slot car racing a unique and fun racing experience. Also some of the cartoon character cars can be a little harder to control the racing style cars but with a little more time these too can be controlled.
You are limited to racing two slot cars at a time on the track which is fine as a starter but there are tracks where you can race up to 6 cars at a time, as in digital sets or different scale sets but these do cost more.
If you want to take the hobby more seriously you will need to change slot car scale because I am not aware of any 1:43 scale clubs or associations.
In summary Carrera Go slot cars are great for getting started in the hobby of slot car racing or if you just want a fun toy that requires some patience and skill with a racing thrill then these sets are a good buy for you and your family.
